Gold Performance Awards were just released from TEA. MMS has received Gold Performance Acknowledgements in Commended in Reading, Commended in Science, and Commended in Social Studies.

	MMS honored as a NCEA Higher Performing School


	MMS Math and Science Teams Compete Well At First Competition

The Mauriceville Middle School sent a math and science team to compete on Saturday January 21, 2012 at Odom Academy in Beaumont. They competed against all 5A schools and a few schools from Houston. There were 15 schools in attendance. Two students went home with trophies. Parker Linscomb came in 3rd place in the 7th grade science division and Matthew Cox came in 1st place in the 7th grade science. Richard Warner placed 7th out of 45 students in 8th grade science. This was Mauriceville Middle School's very first competition to attend and the science team placed 4th overall! We are very proud of these students and look forward to future competitions.


	Austin Haley, MMS 8th grader, won first place at the Orange County Live Stock Show art contest in the 6th-8th grade age division.


	Monica Daleo and Kaylee Patillo participated in TMEA Region X Jr. High All Region Choir Performance

Monica Daleo and Kaylee Patillo participated in the TMEA Region X Junior High All Region choir performance on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Vidor High School.


	MMS Choir Shines at UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition

On Saturday, January 28, 2012, eight Mauriceville Middle School students competed at UIL Solo and Ensemble competition at Vidor Jr. High. Monica Daleo, Octavia Weimer, Jada McMackin, Jennah Dumesnil and Kaylee Pattillo all received Superior ratings on their solos. Faith Doyle, Lacci Simmons and one other student all received Excellent ratings on their solos. They are under the direction of Angela Greer.
